“User” means the person or entity using the website and/or registering for any of the programs managed by Australian Science Innovations. “Owner” means the company that owns the website, Australian Science Innovations “Service Provider” means the company providing the website content management system and hosting services to the Owner for the website. “Website” means “URL”.
Agreement to be bound by Terms
It is a condition of use of this site that Users agree to these Terms and Conditions.
By registering to use this site Users agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
The User agrees to indemnify the Owner and the Service Provider against any claim for loss or damage of any kind by any third party arising out of, or in relation to, the use of the Website by the User.
Material on this site and all related program information is all the copyright of the Owner or the Service Provider and the copying or use of this information is not permitted unless prior written permission is received from the site owner.
From time to time information that would normally be available through the site (including supplier’s catalogues) may not be able to be accessed online because of technical or other problems. The Owner and the Service Provider expressly excludes liability to any User of this site in respect of the unavailability of content regardless of whether or not this unavailability is caused by the negligence of the Owner or the Service Provider.
Privacy and storage of your personal information
It is necessary for the Owner to capture information about you in order to provide the services offered through this website. The use of the information and your rights in respect of it is set out in the Privacy Statement on this Website.
Entry into the Big Science Competition and the Australian Science Olympiad Exams can only be accepted from schools.
Australian Science Innovations is unable to accept parent requests to register their child in the Big Science Competition or Australian Science Olympiad Exams.
Schools must register students via www.asi.edu.au using the school ID and password sent to all schools at the beginning of the Australian school year. To obtain a copy of the login details please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Registrations must be made before the closing date for registrations. Key dates can be found at www.asi.edu.au.
Payment must be made before papers will be dispatched.
Any person placing and confirming a registration online using the school ID and password supplied is deemed by Australian Science Innovations to be authorised to do so and the school will be liable for payment of all registrations made by their school staff.
There are no restrictions on students sitting the exams. However, to be eligible to attend the Australian Science Olympiad summer school:
- students either have or are eligible to have an Australian passport by 1 March of the year following their participation in the Australian Science Olympiad Exams;
- students must be 15 years or above at 1 January in the same year of the Australian Science Olympiad Summer School; and
- students must not yet have completed year 12 at the time of attendance at the Australian Science Olympiad Summer School.
Registration cancellations and revisions
A registration can be cancelled with no fee incurred up until the closing date of registrations as specified on key dates
After registrations have closed, any finalised registration is liable for payment in full.
Revisions to a registration can be made up until the registration closing date.
Integrity of the competitions
If there is evidence of collusion or other academic dishonesty, students will be disqualified. Markers decisions are final. The Big Science Competition can take place in your school at any time during the advertised sitting week. Students sitting a paper level must all do so on the same day. Different paper levels may be sat on different days during the competition period.
Refunds may be issued if registrations are cancelled or revised before the registration closing date.
Once competition papers have been shipped a refund cannot be given.
All prices are in Australian dollars ($AUD). All orders within Australia incur GST. Registrations made by schools outside of Australia do not incur GST.

An invoice will be sent to the registering teacher via email at the time the registration is made. Payment terms are net 30 days or by the last day of registrations as specified at www.asi.edu.au.
The following credit cards are accepted: VISA and MASTERCARD. Credit card payments can only be made via the secure payment gateway accessed through the schools section at www.asi.edu.au. No credit card information is stored.
Payments can also be made by cheque or EFT.

If a cheque payment is dishonoured, the school/payer is responsible for the banks dishonour fee charges. Australian Science Innovations must be reimbursed for any dishonour fee charges.

All EFT payments MUST be referenced with the invoice number which accompanies all registrations. Failure to do so may result in Australian Science Innovations requesting re-payment. A tax invoice receipt will be included with your registration.
Freight and postage charges
For Australian schools, postage and handling charges are covered by the competition registration fees.
For schools outside of Australia, postage and handling charges are additional to the competition registration fees. These charges vary depending on shipping address and are automatically calculated and itemised on the registration page before you finalise and pay for your registration. Papers are sent to the delivery address nominated by you during the registration process. All orders are sent by registered Australian Post. All international orders are sent by international courier.
The freight charges help cover the cost of couriering papers and answer sheets directly to your school. Freight charges are one-way only. Schools are responsible for returning completed answer sheets to Australian Science Innovations at their own expense.
Papers are dispatched two weeks before the competition date. If you have not received your papers one week before the official competition date, please contact Australian Science Innovations on 02 6125 6228 or email@example.com.
Question papers do not need to be returned after the competition has been completed.
Return of answer sheets
In order for schools to receive results within the reporting period and to be eligible for awards, completed answer sheets must be returned within seven (7) working days from the official sitting date. Completed answer sheets should be returned using registered mail or courier.
