Definitions

“User” means the person or entity using the website and/or registering for any of the programs managed by Australian Science Innovations (ASI).

“Owner” means the company that owns the website, Australian Science Innovations.

“Service Provider” means the company providing the website content management system and hosting services to the Owner for the website.

“Website” means URL.

Agreement to be bound by Terms

It is a condition of use of this site that Users agree to these Terms and Conditions. By registering to use this site Users agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

Indemnity

The User agrees to indemnify the Owner and the Service Provider against any claim for loss or damage of any kind by any third party arising out of, or in relation to, the use of the Website by the User.

Copyright

Material on this site and all related program information is all the copyright of the Owner or the Service Provider and the copying or use of this information is not permitted unless prior written permission is received from the site owner.

Unavailability

From time to time information that would normally be available through the site may not be able to be accessed online because of technical or other problems. The Owner and the Service Provider expressly excludes liability to any User of this site in respect of the unavailability of content regardless of whether or not this unavailability is caused by the negligence of the Owner or the Service Provider.

Privacy and storage of your personal information

It is necessary for the Owner to capture information about you in order to provide the services offered through this website. The use of the information and your rights in respect of it is set out in the Privacy Statement on this Website.

Registrations

Parent requests to register their child on this website cannot be accepted, unless that child is home schooled.

Registrations on this website can only be made by a school, or a parent of a home-schooled child.

Schools must register students via their school profile on the website using their school ID and password.

Registrations must be made before the published closing dates found on the website.

Any person making a registration on the website using their school ID and password is deemed by the Owner to be authorised to do so and the school will be liable for payment of all registrations made by their staff.

Eligibility

Australian Science Olympiad Exams
There are no restrictions on students sitting the exams.

However, to be eligible to attend the Australian Science Olympiads Summer School:
• students either have or are eligible to have an Australian passport by 1 March of the year following their participation in the Australian Science Olympiad Exams;
• students must be 15 years old or above at 1 January in the same year of the Australian Science Olympiad Summer School and
• students must not yet have completed Year 12 at the time of attendance at the Australian Science Olympiad Summer School

Big Science Competition
The Big Science Competition is open to students from Australian and international schools and students who are home-schooled.

Registration cancellations and revisions

A registration can be cancelled or revised up until the published closing date of registrations as found on the website.

After the published closing date of registrations, all registration are liable for payment in full.

Integrity of the Big Science Competition and Australian Science Olympiad Exams

The Big Science Competition (both online and pen & paper) can be sat anytime between the published competition period found on the website. It is a requirement that all students sitting a particular year level do so on the same day.

Each discipline in The Australian Science Olympiad Exams (Physics; Chemistry; Earth and Environmental Science and Biology) has a designated sitting date that is published on the website. Exams must be sat on the designated sitting date.

All students sitting an exam must do so together as one cohort on the designated sitting date.

If a variation of sitting date is required please complete the following form and return to asi@asi.edu.au for approval.

Under no circumstances may the Australian Science Olympiad Exams be sat before the designated sitting dates found on the website.

If the exam is sat on a day that is different to the designated sitting dates found on the website (and the variation of form was not submitted), they will not be eligible for marking.

If there is evidence of collusion or other academic dishonesty, students will be disqualified.

Markers decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Refunds

Refunds will be issued in full if registrations are cancelled or revised before the published closing date of registrations found on the website. Refunds cannot be given after the closing date of registrations.

Prices

Big Science Competition
All prices are in Australian dollars $AUD. All orders within Australia incur GST. Registrations made by schools outside of Australia do not incur GST.

Coupons can not be used after the published registration deadline.

Australian Science Olympiad Exams
All prices are in Australian dollars $AUD. All orders incur GST.  Please see website for current registration fees.

Coupons can not be used after the published registration deadline.

Australian Science Olympiad Summer School
All prices are in Australian dollars $AUD.

This program does not incur GST. Please see website for current registration fees.

International Science Olympiad
All prices are in Australian dollars $AUD. This program does not incur GST. Please see website for current registration fees.

Payment

Payment terms are net 30 days.

VISA and MASTERCARD credit cards are accepted Credit Card payments can only be made via the secure payment gateway on the website. No credit card information is stored.

Payments can also be made by cheque or EFT.

If a cheque payment is dishonoured the school/payer is responsible for the banks dishonour fee charges. Australian Science Innovations must be reimbursed for any dishonour fee charges.

All EFT payments must be referenced with the invoice number which accompanies all registrations. Failure to do so may result in Australian Science Innovations requesting re-payment. A tax invoice receipt will be emailed upon completion of your registration.

Freight and postage charges

For Australian schools, postage and handling charges are covered by the registration fees.

For schools outside of Australia, postage and handling charges are additional to the registration fees.

These charges vary depending on shipping address and are automatically calculated and itemised on the registration page before you finalise and pay for your registration.

Papers are sent to the delivery address nominated by the User during the registration process. All orders are sent by registered Australian Post. All international orders are sent by international courier.

Papers are dispatched two weeks before the competition date. If you have not received your papers one week before the competition date, please contact us on 02 6125 6228 or asi@asi.edu.au

Return of answer sheets

Question booklets should not be returned to us.

Big Science Competition
Answer sheets and declaration forms must be received by us within 7 working days after the close of the competition period, otherwise answer sheets may not be marked unless a prior arrangement is made.

Answer sheets should be returned using registered mail or courier.

Australian Science Olympiads
Answer sheets and answer booklets must be received by us within 7 working days after the last sitting date, otherwise answer sheets may not be marked unless a prior arrangement is made.
