Definitions
“User” means the person or entity using the website and/or registering for any of the programs managed by Australian Science Innovations (ASI).
“Owner” means the company that owns the website, Australian Science Innovations.
“Service Provider” means the company providing the website content management system and hosting services to the Owner for the website.
“Website” means URL.
“Programs” means the programs being offered by the Owner, and include, but is not limited to the Australian Science Olympiad Competition, Big Science Competition, Australian Science Olympiad Summer School and International Science Olympiads.
Agreement to be bound by Terms
It is a condition of use of this site that Users agree to these Terms and Conditions. By registering to use this site Users agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
Indemnity
The User agrees to indemnify the Owner and the Service Provider against any claim for loss or damage of any kind by any third party arising out of, or in relation to, the use of the Website by the User.
Copyright
Material on this site and all related program information is all the copyright of the Owner or the Service Provider and the copying or use of this information is not permitted unless prior written permission is received from the site owner.
Unavailability
From time to time information that would normally be available through the site may not be able to be accessed online because of technical or other problems. The Owner and the Service Provider expressly excludes liability to any User of this site in respect of the unavailability of content regardless of whether or not this unavailability is caused by the negligence of the Owner or the Service Provider.
Privacy and storage of your personal information
It is necessary for the Owner to capture information about you in order to provide the services offered through this website. The use of the information and your rights in respect of it is set out in the Privacy Statement on this Website.
Program registrations
Program registrations must be submitted via the online links provided. Registrations must be submitted before the published registration close date.
Any person making a registration to take part in one or more of our Programs is deemed by the Owner to be authorised to do so, and liable for payment of the registration.
China
Schools and students in mainland China, Macau and Hong Kong must register with ASDAN, the local provider of ASI activities.

Access to our Programs
All communication about, and access to, the Programs will be made via the email address provided by the User in their registration form.
Access to the Programs will be available only on the published dates. It is the Users responsibility to access the Programs on the published sitting dates.
The Owner cannot guarantee access to the Programs outside of the published sitting dates.
The Owner will do all that is reasonably possible to provide the User with access to the Programs on the published sitting date.

Integrity of the Programs
To protect the integrity of the Programs, each Program has a designated sitting date (or date range) and conditions that are published on this website. It is the Users responsibility to adhere to these dates and conditions.
If a variation of sitting date is required a Variation of Date form must be submitted to asi@asi.edu.au for approval.
Under no circumstances may the Programs be sat before the designated sitting dates published on the website.
If the Programs are sat on a day that is different to the designated sitting dates found on the website (and the Variation of Date form was not submitted and/or approved), they may not be eligible for marking.
If there is evidence of collusion or other academic dishonesty, students will be disqualified.
Markers decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Certificates and Results
Big Science Competition
Students receive a certificate indicating their performance. Certificates are provided electronically.
Australian Science Olympiad Exams
Students receive a certificate indicating their performance. Certificates are provided electronically. Individual student marks and rankings will not be made available.
Trade promotion terms and conditions
2023 Big Science Competition Prizes:
Each student who completes for the Big Science Competition will go into the draw to win one of four prizes with winners randomly selected. Once a student registration has been randomly selected, it will be omitted from any subsequent prize draws.
The total prize pool of this competition is: $1,498. Prizes include

The 2023 Big Science Competition Giveaway is open to eligible students at Australian high schools only. Australian citizens or students attending international schools are not eligible to win a prize, though they may sit the Big Science Competition.
Eligible entries are entered into the Giveaway at no extra cost.
Students complete the Big Science Competition to be automatically entered into the giveaway. One entry per student.
Duplicate registrations for the same student are not allowed and will not increase the odds of winning a prize.
The prize draw will take place at 31 May 2023 at Australian Science Innovations Oliphant Building, at The Australian National University using a physical draw. The results will be published on asi.edu.au.
All Prizes cannot be transferred, exchanged or redeemed in cash. The value of each prize as stated in these Terms and Conditions is stated in good faith.
We will notify the teacher of the prize winners by telephone, mail or email on 31 May 2023 or otherwise as soon as reasonably possible following the Australian Science Innovations determining of the prize winners.
Australian Science Innovations will make all effort to contact and follow-up with prize winners, but if the winner does not make contact to claim their Prize within 30 days, the prize shall be deemed unclaimed.
In the event of any unclaimed Prizes, a redraw will take place at Oliphant Building, The Australian National University on 3 July 2023.
Australian Science Innovations may use any information (including personal information) provided by any person who registers for any reason in relation to the Competition.
The decision of Australian Science Innovations in relation to any aspect of the Competition will be final, and will be binding on every person who enters the Competition. No correspondence will be entered into.
If there is an event which prevents or hinders Australian Science Innovations conduct of the Competition, or Australian Science Innovations ability to deliver the prize to the Prize Winner, then the Australian Science Innovations may, in its discretion cancel the Competition subject to State Regulation or select other Prize Winners. Further, Australian Science Innovations may at its sole discretion recommence it under the same conditions.
Australian Science Innovations may at its discretion refuse to award any Prize to any student who fails to comply with the Big Science Competition Conditions of Entry.

Current employees, Board Members, and volunteers of Australian Science Innovations, and their families, are not eligible to enter the Competition.
Student no-shows, changes, cancellations and refund
For Big Science Competition and Australian Science Innovations
Once a registration is submitted it is deemed confirmed and the registering entity is liable for payment. Full payment of the invoice is required, regardless of how many students access the competition or exam during the sitting period.
Changes can be made up until the registration close date. To increase student numbers, a new registration with the additional numbers only can be submitted. To decrease student numbers please email asi@asi.edu.au before the registration close date.
Refunds can only be issued if a paid registration is cancelled before the registration close date. Please email asi@asi.edu.au. Refunds or credits will not be issued for schools or students who fail to access the competition or exam.
For the Australian Science Olympiad Summer School, International Science Olympiad, Junior Science Olympiad Spring School. Junior Science Olympiad Training Squad and Junior Science Olympiad Training Academy:
Refunds may be issued if a student must withdraw from a program prior to commencement of the program. In cases where flights and accommodation have been booked, the refunded amount may be less than the invoiced amount. To withdraw from a program and apply for a refund, please contact your relevant program director.
Fees
All prices are in Australian Dollars (AUD)
Big Science Competition (BSC): Registrations for Australian schools and students incur GST. Registrations for international schools and students do not incur GST. See our website for current BSC fees.
Australian Science Olympiad Exams (ASOE): All registrations incur GST. See our website for current ASOE registration fees.
Australian Science Olympiad Summer School and International Science Olympiad: These programs does not incur GST. Please see website for current registration fees.
Junior Science Olympiad Spring School. Junior Science Olympiad Training Squad and Junior Science Olympiad Training Academy: These programs does not incur GST. Please see website for current registration fees.
Invoicing and Payment
Invoices are issued within 7 days of registration and sent via email to the Registration Contact. Payment terms are net 14 days. Access to competitions/program may be withheld for non-payment of invoices.
The competition provider will provide participation data. Should the number of students sitting the competition exceed the number of students invoiced, an additional invoice may be generated after the competition period.
Payment can be made via the BPay or credit card details provided on the invoice. Credit card information is not stored.
