ASI Alumni attend the 2025 Asian Science Camp
A chance for travel, networking, discovery… and science!
ASI Alumni, Angus, Chloe, Cynthia, Isobel and Ryan, had the opportunity to attend the 2025 Asian Science Camp. They joined student delegates from 22 countries for six days of science, culture, and collaboration.
Along with the ASI Chair, Associate Professor Stella Clark, AM, and Nurul, an ASI staff member, the five alumni travelled to Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat), Thailand. The event was held from From 31 July to 6 August 2025 and was hosted at Suranaree University of Technology.
Highlights
- Opening ceremony attended by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn
- Attended talks by 3 Nobel Laureates and participated in small group dialogues with each speaker
- Tour of the Synchrotron Light Research Institute, Thailand’s leading synchrotron facility
- Team poster collaborations, working alongside fellow delegates from 22 countries to tackle global scientific challenges
- Night cultural activities: Thai dance, Muay Thai, pottery, painting & edible insects
- Visit to Khao Yai National Park
- Mini light and sound show in Phimai
Our alumni and their respective teams earned three Bronze Medals and two Honourable Mentions for their posters!
The last time that ASI participated in an Asian Science Camp was in 2022 at the online camp hosted by South Korea.
