Ms Patricia Illing - Deputy Director
Patricia's involvement with the Australian Science Olympiads began in 2004 when she represented Australia in the 15th International Biology Olympiad in Brisbane. Since this time she has helped prepare students for their own Olympiad experience as a member of the Biology teaching staff.
Patricia completed a Bachelor of Science Degree with Honours at the University of Melbourne. She majored in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Cell biology, before going on to complete an honours year in Immunology. After a brief sojourn in South America swimming with iguanas in the Galapagos and caring for monkeys in Bolivia, she is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Melbourne researching T cell mediated drug hypersensitivity under the supervision of Dr. Mandvi Bharadwaj and Professor Jim McCluskey. When she is not in the lab Patricia can either be found in the kitchen (generally baking something unhealthy), behind a set of knitting needles and getting in touch with the senior citizen within, or singing to the steering wheel (it's the only one who will listen).
